David Sharpe

BIOGRAPHY

David Sharpe was promoted to his role as COO of Universal Music UK in January 2012 after eight years working at Island Records, most recently as Senior Vice-President. In addition to overseeing the operations of Universal UK, he is directly responsible for Universal’s Commercial teams together with Universal’s Brand Partnership division Globe, Abbey Road Studios and Universal Music Ireland. In addition, he is responsible for the group's finance and royalty functions.

Prior to joining Island in 2003, Sharpe was Finance Director of UMTV and Catalogue, having joined Universal Music in 2001 as Finance and Planning Director. Previously he was head of business support for Virgin Records UK and also spent two years in the mid-Nineties as Director of Marketing Support for Capitol Records in LA. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in Dublin and is a Graduate of Trinity College, Dublin.
