David Munns OBE
BIOGRAPHY
David Munns OBE was appointed Chairman of Nordoff Robbins in 2010 after spending two years chairing the charity’s fundraising committee.
His involvement with the charity goes back to the 1980s however, where he supported the organisation throughout his career in the music industry.
David is a senior music industry professional. He joined EMI in 1972 and held progressively more senior marketing roles. During this period he spent five years in Canada working for EMI before returning to the UK in 1984 as Director of A&R and Marketing.
In 1987, David joined Polygram as MD of Polydor and then in 1991 was promoted to the position of Senior Vice President – Pop Marketing at Polygram International. Here he worked with artists including Bon Jovi, U2, the Bee Gees, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Van Morrison amongst many others.
In 2001, David re-joined EMI as Worldwide Vice-Chairman and CEO of North America and stayed in that role until 2007.
David served as Chairman of the Music Industry Trusts Award from 1995 to 2021. To date, the event has raised over £4m for Nordoff Robbins and the BRIT Trust. In 2011, David was honoured with a surprise MITs Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to charity.
