Come Play With Me CIC receive diversity champion award at Music Week's Women In Music award

Congratulations to The BRIT Trust supported Leeds label and development organisation Come Play With Me who have been announced as winners of ‘The Company Award: Diversity in the Workplace award’ at this year’s Music Week Women In Music Awards. With previous recipients including Universal, Warner and PPL, the award celebrates the accomplishments of women and people of marginalised genders in the music business and is a major achievement for Come Play With Me as the first winner to be based in the north.

As a development organisation, CPWM publishes their own magazine, curates a series of Connected Sounds podcasts featuring inspirational interviews with LGBTQIA+ role models and hosts a range of inclusive events and conferences. Now in its seventh year, ‘I Know A Place’ is aimed at including, empowering and celebrating women and people of marginalised genders in music, whilst the pioneering series of ‘Come Platform Me’ events give early-stage promoters from under-represented communities the opportunity to grow and thrive. CPWM also specialise in LGBTQ+ inclusion and offer consultancy and workshops to help other creative organisations build on their support for the LGBTQ+ community, the organisation is currently working with Independent Venue Community to run LGBTQ+ inclusion sessions for independent venues and promoters around the country

CPWM Director Tony Ereira said: “We are super excited that Music Week have recognised a little organisation in Leeds for its work supporting diversity in the music industry - and acknowledging that the music industry doesn’t just exist inside the M25, but thrives and innovates beyond it. This validates everything we do and we’re truly humbled. “
