In a BRIT Trust Spotlight, we hear from Dan Clark, pictured with alumni musical artist Raye on a visit to the school in February 2022, who now works for The BRIT School having studied there as a student.
My name is Dan Clark, I am a former BRIT School Student and current member of staff.
I had always dreamed of going to a Performing Arts school but didn’t believe it was achievable due to the cost of this type of education. A friend of my Mums recommended The BRIT School and that it was free to attend. We immediately called up (no internet back then) and as if by chance it was the Open Evening that day, we came along and I immediately knew it was the place for me.
I studied the Musical Theatre course at Sixth Form and had the best time. Don’t get me wrong it was hard work, but sharing a building with creative, hardworking and kind people made the hard work worth it. We attended live performances and also got to attend The BRIT awards in 1998 and witness one of my favourite collaborations of Tom Jones and Robbie Williams.
After leaving BRIT I worked in a London Theatre until a position came up to work at the School. I started working in Reception and being a Duty Manager on performances. I now manage the Front of House Department and Alumni Relations at The BRIT School and help wherever I can in fundraising for this very special place. I also now organise the school’s involvement in The BRIT Awards. It’s always a pleasure seeing so many former students involved in the show.
